I’ve taught IGCSE Maths for ten years, mostly with students studying in international schools. Algebra is the part I enjoy most, especially functions and simultaneous equations. I like to see every stage of a calculation because it tells me much more than the final answer. In exam season, we work with mixed past-paper questions and spend time on mathematical vocabulary too, particularly where wording in English causes unnecessary mistakes.

Hi! I came into Maths tutoring through engineering and have spent five years working with IGCSE students. Geometry and trigonometry are easily my favourite topics because a quick sketch often gets us halfway to the solution. My sessions are quite informal: we try a question, talk through what happened and then change something to make it harder. I’m also a big fan of mental estimates before using the calculator, especially for catching silly errors.

Statistics was my route into teaching, and I’ve now tutored IGCSE Maths privately for seven years. Probability and data questions naturally feature heavily in my lessons, although I cover the full syllabus. I pay close attention to how students interpret graphs and worded problems. Rather than correcting an entire solution myself, I usually point to the first line where something changed and ask the student to work out what needs fixing from there.

Before tutoring full time, I worked with financial models and data, so percentages, sequences and graphs are topics I particularly enjoy teaching. I’ve worked with IGCSE Maths students for six years. Lessons usually begin with a couple of questions from earlier topics before we move onto anything new. For exam preparation, I prefer timed sections to full papers at first; it makes it much easier to identify whether the issue is method, accuracy or speed.

I’m a qualified Mathematics teacher with more than nine years of secondary-school experience, including extensive work with IGCSE students. My tuition is structured around diagnostic questions followed by focused practice. Algebraic manipulation and multi-stage problems receive particular attention. I also teach students how to read mark allocations and command words carefully, as strong mathematical ability alone does not always translate into an efficient exam response.

Computer science gave me a slightly different route into Maths, and I’ve been tutoring IGCSE students for four years. Sequences and functions are probably my favourites because there’s always a pattern hiding somewhere. I like asking students to predict what should happen before doing the calculation. Lessons are relaxed, but unexplained calculator answers don’t get very far with me! If a method works, I want the student to know exactly why it works.
